Head of Creative and Performing Arts, Carmel Fante, said the day was keenly anticipated each year by the residents and students alike.

‘As residents arrived they were greeted by a small ensemble of singers who delighted everyone with a selection of Christmas songs,’ Carmel said.

Year 11 student, Jessica Dura, said the student body had been preparing for some weeks.

‘Hospitality students had been very busy in the College kitchens, the result being that a superb roast chicken with all the trimmings and delicious hot gravy was served,’ Jessica said.

College Captain, Michael Harbouki, said the students took pride in ensuring the day was very special for their visitors.

‘Even little things, such as seeing the guests are comfortable in their chairs and are offered juice or water, can make a difference,’ Michael said. ‘We liked seeing the surprised looks from some of our guests when Santa Claus arrived as they were finishing their Christmas cake, tea or coffee.’

‘It’s an Emmaus tradition and we look forward to it just as much as those who come,’ he said. ‘It gives us a chance to relate to our senior community and to feel we can do something to show our respect.’
It was a full house as students and residents enjoyed the festivities.
