📣YEAR 7 2026 ORIENTATION INFORMATION 📣 Our Year 7 2026 Orientation events will be held next week: 📅 ORIENTATION EVENING: Thursday, 13th November, 6:00pm - 7:00pm. 📅 ORIENTATION DAY: Friday, 14th November, 8:30am - 2:30pm. If you’ve received an enrolment offer, ensure you finalise your enrolment to secure your place at these important events - only families who have accepted their enrolment offer can attend these events, which allow families to explore what’s ahead, meet our amazing staff, and get the information you need for a smooth transition to high school. Our College uniform shop will be open on both days. Please see their extended trading hours below: ⏰ Thursday, 13th November, 12:00pm - 6:00pm. ⏰ Friday, 14th November, 12:30pm - 4:30pm. Last week, three Year 10 students attended the St Marys RSL Sub-Branch Colin Shepherd OAM Memorial Scholarship Presentation Night, along with Mrs Osterlund, Mrs Nevin, Miss Mukhopadhyay and Mr Murphy. On the night, Noah K, Justine T and Elisha S were awarded scholarships. These students underwent a rigorous selection process where they submitted a project that was assessed against strict criteria. Each student created a fantastic project that explored their personal connection to Australia’s rich military history. 🇦🇺🎖️ Congratulations to: 🥇Noah K (first place) 🥈Justine T (second place) 🥉Elisha S (third place) These scholarships will support these students as they continue their senior studies at Emmaus. 📚SCIENCE AT EMMAUS: FROG DISSECTION PRACTICAL 🧪 Year 8 has been busy in Miss Prasad’s Science class, learning about the human body. To begin the unit, students engaged in a practical experiment where they dissected a frog to learn about the inner-workings of the digestive system. 🧑‍🔬 This practical gave Year 8 students the opportunity to physically identify features of the frog, and its digestive system, while enhancing their ability to use dissection tools safely and effectively. ⭐ LANGUAGES AT EMMAUS 🏮 Xuan paper - a traditional Chinese paper with over a thousand years of history - is often seen as a key to understanding Chinese culture and art. Recently, our Year 8 students explored this ancient and timeless treasure by painting with water colour on Xuan paper from China. 🎨 Guided by Ms Li, students learned about Xuan paper, and experimented with watermark painting - a traditional technique where the colours flow and blend across the paper’s soft fibres. The result was a series of stunning artworks, each one representing a fusion of culture and learning. 🥰 It was an engaging lesson that combined language, culture, and creativity, giving Year 8 students a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture and artistry. ✨ #EmmausCatholicCollege #LearningatEmmaus #LanguageLearning #FromtheClassroom

We wish our Year 12 students good luck as they sit their English Paper 1 HSC exam tomorrow! ✨ Our Leader of Learning for English, Ms Lathouras, has some words of wisdom for our students: ⭐Breathe! ⭐Read each question carefully, calmly, and look for all of the clues in the question to create your response. ⭐ Put a timeframe at the start and end of each section, reminding yourself of how long you have to do the task to ensure you can answer ALL sections by the end of the exam. ⭐ Be proud of what you have achieved. As we prepare to welcome back our students for Term 4 tomorrow, we remind our community of the following student expectations. 🏫 Students must: 👔 wear their full College summer uniform, 💇 adhere to College uniform and grooming expectations, 🏃 only wear sports uniform on prac days and Thursdays, 📱 switch mobile phones off and store them in your school bag from 8:35am to 2:55pm 🪪 bring Student ID and Opal cards to school, everyday, and 💻 ensure your device is working and is fully charged. ⭐ EMMAUS HOUSE CUP 2025 🏆 Towards the end of Term 3, Mamre House was crowned as the 2025 House Cup Champions! 👏💚 Congratulations to Mamre House, who performed extremely well across all sporting events, and shone in the classroom.
